CLASS PARTICULARS


The main combat mission of the Landing Platform Dock Rotterdam is the movement and disembarkation of a fully equipped battalion marines to the objective area using organic landing assets such as helicopters and landing craft or existing port facilities. With the required capabilities the ship is also well suited for secondary missions such as military sealift or disaster relief.Rotterdam has demonstrated full functionality for dock and helicopter operations in adverse weather conditions.Seakeeping, manoeuvrability and station keeping have been set to high requirements.The platform of Rotterdam has been designed with generous operational spaces, deck areas and mobilisation and access routes to ensure swift adaptation to diverse tasks.The vessel has extended facilities for medical and surgical care.
