Third Patrol Vessel "Friesland" RNLN on track in Galati
The third Patrol Vessel for the RNLN was moved into the new assembly hall at Damen Shipyards Galati yard in Romania, on June 3.
Hydraulic "trucks", placed under the hull beforehand, were used to manoeuvre the vessel. Travelling along a track, at a speed of 2 metres a minute, the "Friesland" entered the hall where the final stage of the building process will start. Once the vessel was safely on its blocks, the "trucks" were removed.
When the "Friesland" is ready to leave the hall for launching, the same process will be repeated in a similar way, by moving the vessel sideways to the slipway.
